Substation Rebuild w/ T-Line By-Pass
Welty Energy & Infrastructure provided project management services to for the rebuild of an existing radially fed 115/46 kV, two-transformer substation into a four-breaker ring bus configuration. Following the failure of one of the transformers, Welty coordinated the construction activities required for the emergency installation of a mobile transformer. The scope of work included installing a 115kV bypass around the existing station with a radial tap to a mobile transformer, as well as sectionalizing the substation to keep the remaining original transformer online to maintain energization of the 46kV equipment.
The project also included a new 46kV line tie switch, terminal upgrades at two remote stations, and implementation of anti-islanding protection schemes.
Project Scope:
- Demolished a 115kV yard and constructed a new 4-breaker ring bus
- Installed a new 115kV-46kV transformer, foundation, and oil containment pit
- Installed new station service transformers
- Built new control house
- Installed a 115kV by-pass
- Installed 46kv line tie switch and structures
- Reconductored 115kV line exits from station to dead ends
- Installed a new 115kV breaker and relay panel for line protection
- Coordinated closely with generation owner and PRC-027 regulations
- Installed a new synchroscope and two-way anti-islanding protection for generator
- Installed a new 115kV breaker and relay panel for line protection
- Installed new two-way anti-islanding protection
