230kV Line Relays Upgrade

Welty Energy & Infrastructure provided project management services for a two-terminal, 230 kV line relay upgrade project. The scope of this project involved removing and replacing line relaying, existing line electromechanical relays, line CCVTS, wave traps, line tuning units, and limiting conductor & insulators.

Substation One:

• Replaced limiting conductor & insulators.
• Replaced control cable from breaker to relay panel.
• Removed line wave traps & CCVTs.
• Removed CCVTs foundation.
• Replaced primary & backup electromechanical
  relays with dual SEL 421s.

Substation Two:

• Replaced (3) 230 kV line CCVTs.
• Replaced control cable from breaker to relay panel.
• Removed line wave trap, tuning unit & CCVTs
• Removed CCVTs foundation
• Replaced primary & backup electromechanical relays with dual SEL 421s.
