69kV Auto-Sectionalizing Installation

Welty Energy & Infrastructure provided project management services for the installation of a 69kV auto-sectionalizing scheme for a Midwest utility’s substation. This included work at three separate substations and the 69kV transmission line. Construction sequencing of this project was complicated due to the radial distribution feeds and multiple distribution voltages at the site (12.47kV & 8.32kV). The work had to be completed in a specific sequence and included the use of a mobile substation and regulator cart.

Project Involved: 

• Upgrading line exits, relaying and expanding the substation
• Removing two transmission line switches on the 69kV transmission line
• 69kV line terminal upgrades at two substations
