City of Bedford Heights – Grant Writing Services

inSITE Advisory Group partnered with the City of Bedford Heights in 2025 to provide grant writing services to support the municipality and help them secure over $330,000 in grants for vital community services. The partnership kicked off in April 2025 and resulted in some early wins within a matter of three months as inSITE Advisory Group secured two grants through the U.S. Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing (COPS) program and the Cuyahoga County Community Development Block Grant Municipal Grant Program.

“When we initially engaged with the City of Bedford Heights, we sat down with each department leader and asked them what their needs were, so we could align those needs to available grant opportunities,” said Catey Scanlon, who is the principal grant writer for inSITE. “I have an excellent track record for securing grants, so I knew our engagement would produce positive results and drive new funding to Bedford Heights.”
In July 2025, Bedford Heights received notification that they were a recipient of $125,000 in a federal COPS grant award to support the hiring of a new police officer over a three-year period. This was truly monumental since the City was facing a staffing shortage and did not have the resources to support a new patrolman without the support of the grant.

Later in the Fall, Cuyahoga County announced that Bedford Heights would receive $150,000 in CDBG funding through Cuyahoga County to implement the Home Repair Program, which would focus on residents who have limited resources so that they can make the necessary improvements to their homes and increase the vitality of the neighborhoods. The City also won a CDBG supplemental grant in the amount of $50,000 for the renovation of FunTown Playground.
“We felt that CDBG was a sure bet for Bedford Heights. They have a strong team in community and economic development to help shepherd this program forward,” said Scanlon. “The Mayor, along with City Council, has the vision to keep the community thriving and making this an outstanding place to live.”
