New Office Building in Independence

September 8, 2022 Independence, OH – Jerry Grisko, president and CEO for CBIZ, Inc., and executives of the Welty Building Company and its affiliate Welty Development will celebrate the “topping off,” or placement of the final beam, of the new, Class A office building at 5959 Rockside Woods in Independence Thursday, September 8 at 10:00 AM.

The building is set to open in spring 2023.  It will be the first new office building constructed in Independence in more than 20 years and will serve as the corporate headquarters of CBIZ, Inc., a leading national professional services provider with more than 100 offices in 32 states. CBIZ’s corporate headquarters has been located in Independence for more than 20 years.

As the anchor tenant, CBIZ will occupy approximately 57,000 square feet or two and a half floors of the six-floor,150,000-square-foot space which is designed to optimize energy efficiency and is expected to receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) equivalent rating at occupancy. CBIZ’s space will feature state-of-the-art technology, flexible workspaces to support collaboration and teamwork, and a working café complete with outdoor terrace.

“The CBIZ team is excited to celebrate this important milestone in the construction of our new corporate headquarters and our continued investment in the Independence community,” said Jerry Grisko. “Setting the final beam on the building brings us one step closer to welcoming our team into our new home and all the innovative features this space will offer.”

Conveniently located near Rockside Road and I-77, the project is being developed by Welty Development, a full-service developer focused on multi-family, corporate, and healthcare real estate projects and built by its parent, Welty Building Company, a premier construction management firm in Northeast Ohio for more than 75 years.  The building was designed by the architects at the Cleveland office of VOCON.

According to Welty Building Company President and CEO Don Taylor, “The building will be a blend of great architecture and modern building techniques — a high-performance, work place that features amenities such as ample conference areas, a fitness center, 25 indoor parking spaces, and publicly available EV charging stations. It will enhance the business-friendly image of the City of Independence, the CBIZ brand and the brand of other businesses that decide to call it home.”
