A new high school with every classroom towards the wooded view

Welty Building Company was awarded the General Trades Contract ($15,800,000) to construct the new East High School for the Youngstown City School District. The “Urban Park” concept for the project was to orient the outdoor view from every classroom towards the wooded view. To accomplish this, the 214,956 SF, one–story building is terraced down the hillside, on three levels. This project was designed and built adhering to the Ohio School Facilities Commission standards. The new high school was part of the district-wide school facilities upgrade program of the Youngstown City Schools.
