Welty Construction was the lead Construction Manager for the new 600,000S SF global Research and Development Center in Brecksville. This project included 9 buildings, 600,000 sf and 118 acres of property.
The new R&D Center will support product development, coatings research, and process engineering and will bring chemists, engineers, technicians and support teams together into a state-of-the-art hub for innovation and development of the Company’s future products and services. The facility includes multiple lab wings with both bench and hood ventilation dedicated to the formulation of Polymers, which range from solvent-based coatings, which require C1D1 protections, to water-based coatings. The complex also includes areas of hazardous material storage for raw goods, finished goods warehouses, and application labs where pilot batches of product can be trialed.
This project was one of the largest projects in the country to utilize Integrated Project Delivery, a contract model that goes beyond design-build to create a fully integrated team of designers and constructors.
