New Class A Office Space Development

Welty is providing Program Management and Construction Management at Risk (CMR) services for CBIZ, Inc., a leading national provider of financial, insurance, advisory and other professional services, for a new Class A office building that will house its corporate headquarters. CBIZ will serve as the anchor tenant. CBIZ plans to move approximately 200 employees to the new facility upon its completion in the second half of 2022 and add 25 new jobs. CBIZ will occupy more than 55,000 SF in the 150,000 SF building, which will be located on Rockside Woods Boulevard, North.
Welty Development Company is the lead developer and Welty Building Construction is the general contractor for the project and VOCON is the architect for the new facility. The project is the City of Independence’s first new Class A office space development in more than two decades.
Through a collaborative process with Welty Development and CBIZ, Vocon designed the building based on the following key project themes:
OPENNESS – Transparency, light and optimized views from within the building to the Cleveland skyline and surrounding natural features.
VISIBILITY – Building orientation on the site responds to primary tenant and visitor circulation paths to create a welcoming approach.
CLASSIC AND PROGRESSIVE – Building presence that reflects the attributes and values of its tenants: reliable, trusted, established, forward-thinking. The design aesthetic articulates a highly ordered bay structure juxtaposed with dynamic building features. ENVIRONMENT – Optimized energy performance of the building with the solar orientation of the building on the site.
