Welty Building Co. President and CEO Don Taylor was delighted when Akron Children’s Hospital approached him in 2012 about the construction of a $240 million medical tower at its downtown Akron campus.
The excitement was tempered as hospital officials explained they wanted to use a new process called Integrated Project Delivery, which draws on many of the “lean” principles and practices of the manufacturing sector.
