Catey Breck is the Director of Economic Development for inSITE Advisory Group, LLC, a regional economic development consulting firm that works with both corporations and municipalities to help clients strategize, execute, and achieve their development goals.

For the last fifteen years, Catey served Northeast Ohioans at the federal, county, and municipal level with more than ten years of experience in economic and community development. Most recently, Catey was the Director of Strategic Development for the City of Akron and co-led the Office of Integrated Development. During her tenure with the City, Catey oversaw the deployment of federal funding into key capital projects and city initiatives including the Akron Civic Commons – Lock 3 Park and Summit Lake Northshore, the Akron Financial Empowerment Center, the Small Business Relief Program, and fought tirelessly to establish the Targeted Help for Resilient InnoVative Entrepreneurs (THRIVE) program.

Through absolute persistence and dedication, Catey successfully secured millions of dollars in grant funding from both government and private foundations to help bring the vision of civic leaders and residents to life. Her passion is serving others, advocacy, and helping people achieve solutions, which is evident in her professional life and civic involvement. In her spare time, Catey co-leads her daughter’s Brownie troop, is a cantor for St. Hilary Church, and serves on the Board for Habitat for Humanity Summit County, Keep Akron Beautiful, Ladies First Akron, and the University of Akron Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Advisory Council. Catey holds her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Akron and her MPA from the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University. Catey is married to John Scanlon and is a mother to one daughter and three bonus daughters.

What/who inspires you?

My daughter inspires me to work hard so she knows that women can be anything.

How do you give back to the community and industry?

I give back to the community through my service on nonprofit boards as well as my service on the donor committee for Lock 3 Park and the Summit Lake North Shore, which are two once-in-a-generation projects in Akron, Ohio. We have raised $31M and counting!

Best thing about being part of the team?

I love working with supportive people who genuinely enjoy working together towards a goal – no matter what it is.

What are goal(s) have you yet to achieve?

I want to run a marathon in under 4 hours.
