Q&A session with: Chris Burns

Why do you love what you do?

I initially loved the sense of accomplishment and the craftsmanship that goes into building. In the second stage of my career, I have grown to love building a high performance team and watching them build and provide an experience that creates value for all stakeholders.

What inspires you?

My daughter who runs cross country without regard to her asthma; my son who has crossed the country three times to chase his dreams; and my oldest daughter who packed her bags and moved 1,800 miles to pursue an education in the field in which she is most passionate.

What do you hope  your legacy in the construction industry will be?

There are physical monuments that will outlast my years in the industry. Each will represent the wonderful experiences I have had with clients, architects, engineers, Trade Partners, craft workers, and associates. These will be lasting tributes to a life of relationships that met and exceeded the challenges of our built environment.

What problems do you enjoy solving?

Working alongside the project owners, designers, and engineers in collaboration. It’s a great sense of accomplishment to be part of a team that can use each other’s skillsets to come up with innovations that bring value to serve the project’s mission.
