Facility Upgrade

Welty Energy provided project management services for a facility upgrade project required for the connection of a developer’s 100MW wind farm to the existing electric grid. These upgrades included replacing the existing main bus conductor and primary and back-up relaying at one substation and replacing primary and back-up relaying at two other substations.

Welty successfully coordinated all engineering and construction activities for the project, which included installation of a temporary bypass line around the existing main bus so that one of the two existing transformers could remain energized during the bus replacement process. The project was completed and placed in service on schedule and within the approved budget.
