    Transmission Control Center

    Project Type: Mission Critical

    Location: Cincinnati, OH

    Owner: Confidential

Welty served as the Construction Manager for a new Mission Critical Control Center located in Ohio. The project site consisted of approximately 57 acres of undeveloped land. The 116,000-square-foot facility included hardened Control Areas—containing system controls, operators, and critical infrastructure—as well as non-hardened Support Areas that housed support staff, training functions, amenities, and building services.

The building included 22 offices, 10 conference rooms, and a café to support the approximately 100 employees who worked in the facility.

The Control Areas provided Tier III redundancy and operated independently from the Tier I infrastructure used in the Support Areas. Three separate electrical feeders were supported by fully redundant uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems with battery plants and backup generators. Redundant chillers, pumps, and a cooling tower further provided a level of infrastructure redundancy not previously available in the Client’s control centers.
