I get great satisfaction from helping businesses grow and create jobs. It is rewarding professionally but also makes our region stronger and a better place to live.
My wife is a big traveler and always wants to go somewhere she’s never been. She’s a great influence on me because, while I love to travel, I tend to want to re-visit places I know I’ll like. We went to a small island in Belize called Caye Caulker on our honeymoon and it’s the most relaxed I’ve ever been in my life. It’s only about two miles long and nothing fancy, but great local food, a few bars on the water and plenty of snorkeling. I really want to get back there.
When I was brand new to economic development, I took an intense 4-week course and became a Certified Economic Development Finance Professional. Most of the cohort already had real-life experience but I was pretty much starting from scratch, so I learned a lot in a short period of time and kick-started my economic development career. It was not easy. Lots of math.
I used to have a side-hustle producing game programs, media guides and website content for minor league and high school sports teams, and leagues, and co-hosted the Ohio Hockey Digest podcast.
