Akron Children’s Hospital – Considine Professional Building II

Providing New Amenities for Patients and Families

In 2018, Welty and Akron Children’s Hospital completed the 230,000 square foot addition to the hospital’s seven-story Considine Professional Building. The new building design relocated most of the hospital’s ambulatory and subspecialty practices, making it possible for children and families to receive comprehensive care under one roof. Each floor in the Considine addition boasts a different theme, creating a cohesive layout and facilitating way finding throughout the hospital.
This project was completed using Integrated Lean Project Delivery (ILPD), a system which emphasizes open and honest collaboration and works to eliminate construction waste, creating a more successful outcome for all parties involved.
