The Project

Welty constructed the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, which is the second national cemetery built in Ohio and the 119th in the national cemetery system. The first phase of construction, covering 65 acres of the 274-acre cemetery, included 15,900 grave sites, 2,000 columbaria niches and 1,000 in-ground garden niches for cremated remains. Welty also constructed an administration and maintenance complex, a public information center, a gazebo with carillon, a flag and assembly area, two committal service shelters, a memorial walkway, a cemetery entrance area, roadways, landscaping, utilities and an irrigation system.
