The Project
<p>The new 57,000 square foot facility is a community collaboration project involving the Akron Area YMCA, Barberton Citizens Hospital, The City of Barberton, Barberton Community Foundation and the Barberton City Schools. Constructed by Welty Building Company, the fitness center occupies 42,000 square feet and includes a six-lane competition pool, a gymnasium, exercise room and a second-floor indoor walking/running track. The City of Barberton runs a 10,000 square foot senior center and Barberton Citizens Hospital staffs a 5,000 square foot hospital / therapy / wellness space.</p>
