The Project

The Richard Howe House is an 1836 high-style federal structure that was home to the resident engineer of the Ohio & Erie Canal located in Northeast Ohio. The building held historical significance to the city of Akron, so the city decided to relocate the building to an area on the banks of the Ohio & Erie Canal overlooking the city’s minor league baseball stadium. Welty Building Company managed the relocation of the historic Richard Howe House and will manage the renovation of the building to its original state. The building will serve as the new headquarters to the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.
