The Project
<p>Constructed by Welty Building Company, Legends of the Wild features 15 new animal exhibits including jaguars, snow leopards, lemurs, Andean condors, Pere David’s deer and other wild animals in their natural habitat. Thirty to fifty yards of rocky hillside was carved out to create the site and blend in with buildings reminiscent of houses on the island of Madagascar. Visitors start their tour by entering under a waterfall entrance to learn about animal legends through signs, zoo talks and stories told in a small outdoor theater. Jaguar statues hold up the overhang for a viewing window for the Andean condors.</p>
