The Project
Welty was hired to build a new classroom building for Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC. The Allen Middle School project consists of minor renovations to classrooms and science labs in the existing building, which was built in 1968, and an addition consisting of six new classrooms, two science labs, an auxiliary gymnasium and support spaces totaling 19,092 SF. The project broke ground on November 1, 2010 and was completed in the Summer of 2011. Site work for the project includes an expanded parking area, a new student drop-off, a courtyard and a retention pond.
