Welty Building Company, LLC of North Carolina, a trusted source for construction management of healthcare, education, government and not-for-profit facilities, has been hired to build a new classroom building for Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC.
The Allen Middle School project consists of minor renovations to classrooms and science labs in the existing building, which was built in 1968, and an addition consisting of six new classrooms, two science labs, an auxiliary gymnasium and support spaces totaling 19,092 square feet. The project broke ground on November 1, 2010 and will wrap in July of 2011. Site work for the project includes an expanded parking area, a new student drop-off, a courtyard and a retention pond.
“Education and security of the students is something I hold close to my heart, so this project with the Guilford County Board of Education is important to me,” said Tom Adams, President and COO of Welty. “We have to make sure that our kids are in clean, safe environments where they can get the best education possible.”
