Welty Expands via Acquisition of Houston-Based Brae Burn Construction
Established in 1971, Brae Burn Construction is one of Houston’s leading commercial construction firms. The alliance expands Brae Burn’s capabilities in healthcare, industrial, education and retail construction, which will be supported by Welty’s innovative process, experience and industry knowledge. Aligned by integrity, efficiency and excellence, the Welty-Brae Burn merger will drive growth and further Welty’s mission to enrich lives through great buildings.
“Brae Burn shares the Welty values of smart building and sustainable construction,” said Donzell Taylor, Welty’s president and CEO. “Welty brings lean design and construction combined with emotional intelligence to the Houston market. With Houston as one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities, this acquisition was a compelling, strategic move for Welty and will benefit both organizations.”
A smooth transition benefits current projects
Tim Pixley and Eddie Heikkila, principals at Brae Burn, will continue to run the day-to-day operations in Houston. Recent Brae Burn projects include the Grand Texas Theme Park, a sport and entertainment district north of Houston and the 100,000 square-foot energy efficient campus for Gardens Elementary in Pasadena, Texas.
With transition teams already in place, the company will operate in the near term as Welty-Brae Burn Construction LLC, an organization that combines Brae Burn’s homegrown Houston expertise with Welty’s advanced suite of construction management solutions. The Welty “Build to Last” philosophy will lead the new combined company as it ventures into the expansive set of opportunities that only the Houston market is able to provide.
